The Birth and Upbringing of Moosa

Moosa Abdullah Al Hussein Yusef Banajah, was born in 1973 (1393 AH) in the city of Jeddah where he grew up and completed his education. He graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah in 1997.

Early Life and Education

After graduation, Moosa worked for three months as a "Subscription In-charge" for foreign publications at the Saudi Distribution Company in 1997. He was promoted to "Marketing Research and Studies Officer" after he submitted a report for the presentation of the computer magazine (Windows) to be published in Arabic. His work went towards increasing its sales, given the entry of Arab countries into the Digital Communications Age.

After one year, he went on to join the IFS Arabia company, acting as an "ERP Applications Consultant".

As part of his role in the integration of the enterprise and corporate resource management system, he implemented the IFS Human Resources and IFS Manufacturing systems. Further, he Arabized the training materials and gave training to the clients. As he gathered expertise, Moosa developed a career plan to help him realize his dream of being an Information Technology Manager at a large company. He set himself a target of 10 years and began to look for suitable roles to fulfil his dream.

He gave up half his salary to fulfill his dream.

Moosa agreed to work for 4 years in a government position as “Head of the Computer Department” at Al-Amal Hospital in Jeddah (2000-2004). This role came with 50% less salary than what he was getting at the IFS Arabia. But for Moosa, the difference was worth it as a stepping stone to his dream of one day becoming the GM of Information Technology at a leading organization.

Beyond establishing the Computer Department at the Al-Amal Hospital in Jeddah, he built their I.T organizational structure, installed the computer network, and built their website. He laid the groundwork for the use of computers in the hospital, and taught and trained staff to use it, urging them to harness the efficiency and power of computers in their daily tasks.

In October 2004, he submitted his resignation and started looking for his next career, move that will bring him closer to his goals.

In the process, he declined multiple offers of lucrative roles in various organizations, until the day it was announced in the newspapers, the position of "GM of Information Technology” available in Saudia Airlines Catering.

Despite the stipulation of a graduate degree or above, Moosa applied for the position based on his rich IT knowledge and experience. Confident in his abilities to be more than a match for the requirements of such a role.

He already held a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, and knew that the world currently lives in the Age of Minds and Artificial Intelligence. And the most important factor in the company’s choice will be the experience and abilities of the candidate, not certificates on paper.

Moosa stood correct and was appointed as “GM of Information Technology” at Saudi Airlines Catering in 12/04/2005.

During his tenure, he overhauled IT infrastructure, developed IT management strategy, job description, policies and procedures to match the requirements of privatization of Saudia Airlines Catering. His run was marked by successfully overcoming major challenges.

After serving as G.M of I.T for 4 years, Moosa moved on to become more independent and began working as a freelance Consultant, Lecturer and Trainer in Management and Human Development

In 2016, he obtained a one-year contract as a “Management Consultant” at Adel Ben Lazouf  & Sons for Trading & Contracting Co., then he served as “GM of Human Resources” at a subsidiary of the Abdul Latif Jameel Group, from 2017 to 2019.

He continues to work as a freelance Consultant, Lecturer and Trainer Management and Human Development, till now.
